News and the New Year

For those of you who haven’t already seen it, Issue 3 of the Macrobiotic Magician has been published on Yahoo Voices at this link:

Soon the fourth issue will be available, also, and I’ll be taking a break until after the first of the upcoming year to focus on my fiction work promoting my new novel, “The Dracomancer”, available through Amazon.com for the holiday season.

Many of us suffer from an upset stomach with over-indulging in the holiday foods, so here’s a recipe that is on my go-to list.

Soothing Stomach Tea

1 liter boiling water

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1 teaspoon dried mint leaves (2 teaspoons fresh mint)

1 Tablespoon Stevia leaf powder

Combine ingredients in a heat-proof covered container.  Allow to steep for twenty minutes and serve.  Left-over tea can be stored in a refrigerator for up to one week.  I find it just as soothing chilled as warm, but that is a matter of personal preference.

Special edition

Greetings, I’m DJ “Kai” Spell, aka the Macrobiotic Magician. I am a multi-year survivor of cancer, Crohn’s disease, and other health complications. I’ve established this forum to share the tips and recipes I’ve learned along the way in my own health battles. I AM NOT A MEDICAL DOCTOR, but I am a spiritual consultant who works with plant-based healing, so you can call me a witch doctor if you like. Please offer your input on any plants or vegan cooking.

Now for a recipe:
Pumpkin-free, Pumpkin Pie Shake

2 bananas, peeled
1 cup cantaloupe chunks
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground clove
1 cup almond milk
1 Tbsp peanut butter
6-8 ice cubes

Combine ingredients in blender and puree until smooth. This serves 2-4 people and makes a great cold beverage on a warm autumn day.
